St. Louis Restoration

I took over my grandfather's failing Furniture Refinishing business in May of 2007. The business was deeply in debt and spending $35,000 a year on advertising that wasn’t working anymore. I cut the advertising budget to zero on day one. The yellow pages, direct mail coupons, and newspaper advertising just wasn’t working for us anymore. The companies sales dropped 75% between 2004 and 2007, yet advertising spending rose in each of those years. I didn’t know much about internet marketing then. But I knew we needed a website, and weren’t in a position to pay for it. So I learned how to do it myself. While learning how to make our website I became aware of the term SEO or Search Engine Optimization. I decided since it was free, that I would try it out and see how it worked. Well between May 1st 2007 and December 31st 2007 in only 7 months, St. Louis Restoration earned what it had in the previous 3 years combined. In my 3 years as owner of St. Louis Restoration I was able to pay off all of the debt, purchase and renovate the building we’d rented for 32 years, hire more employees, expand employee benefits, and gave all of my employees a 20% raise plus periodic bonuses. After accomplishing everything I set out to do and more, I sold St. Louis Restoration in May 2010 to Brett Wissel.

Bath Refinishing St. Louis

After I sold St. Louis Restoration, I spent 6 months on the beaches of Southern California enjoying life. When I returned home I wanted to put my internet marketing skills and knowledge of refinishing to use. I wanted to show my friends and a few family members that thought I was handed my success that I earned it by creating my own refinishing company from scratch. So I decided to launch a bathtub refinishing business which I named Bath Refinishing St. Louis. Within six months of launching Bath Refinishing St. Louis had become # 1 on Google, Bing, & Yahoo for all relevant search terms. Within 12 months Bath Refinishing St. Louis had a greater annual profit than St. Louis Restoration it’s 35-year-old cousin. After 3 years at the helm of Bath Refinishing St. Louis, I yearned for a new challenge. So I decided to sell Bath Refinishing St. Louis to Graig & Marina Peterson so I could launch an internet marketing company where I could help other refinishers.
